SUMMARY/BIOGRAPHY
Maame Adwoa Bentumah Animpong was born in Takoradi in the western region. She comes from Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana. Maame had her primary and junior high education in Ridge International School in Takoradi and then to Wesley Girls’ High School where she obtained her SSCE certificate in 1998. She gained admission to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to study Physics and graduated with a BSc, second-class upper division in 2004. After her undergraduate studies, she then did a year’s National Service at the Mines Department in Takoradi from 2004- 2005 doing assessment and training mineworkers on safety measures. She later went for further studies at KNUST to pursue a master’s degree in Materials Science and graduated with a MSc. Physics (Materials Science) in 2008. She has been with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Institute of Industrial Research (CSIR,IIR) from 2011 to date as a Research Scientist. She is now pursuing a doctorate degree in Materials Science also at KNUST, Kumasi. She has 10 publications and has attended various conferences and workshops. She was also part of the team that was awarded the Best Inventor in a competition organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Korean Intellectual Property Organization (KIPO) in conjunction with the Registrar Generals Department in Accra, Ghana.
